Week 3

For the week of September 15-19, 2008.
  • Reading- we will read the short story "Saving the Rain Forests." The vocabulary this week will revolve around more scientific terms. In addition, we will review fact vs opinion.
  • Grammar- we will be going over subjects and predicates, plus compound sentences. Spelling test will be Thursday, Sept 18th.
  • Math - We will be doing a basic review this week of multiplication and long division. Two page math homework assigned last week will be due Monday, Sept. 15. Please encourage your student to keep reviewing basic math facts!
  • Science- We will be finishing up the surface of the moon and begin going over seasons. Students have been encouraged to view to moon over the weekend and report the phase on Monday the 15th.
  • Social Studies- We are starting our unit on Egypt. This week, for country reports, the title page we be due Friday, Sept. 19.
  • We have also started our writers workshop and the students are working on the first "fantasy" story.
